administrative approval was granted to BSNL MTNL for offering 5g spectrum.
total quantum available for auction = 72 GHz (or 72097.85 MHz)
reserve price of spectrum = spectrum worth Rs 4.3 lakh crore
EMD REMITTED by COMPANIES
JIO = Rs 14000 crore
Airtel = Rs 5500 crore
Vodafone idea = Rs 2200 crore
Adani data = RS 100 crore.
total EMD = Rs 21800 crore
validity period = 20 years.
an accurate thumb rule says that a telco can acquire SPECTRUM WORTH
7 times the EMD.
mode of payment:
successful bidders shall pay the amount in 20 equal annual
instalments. interest rate 7.2%
there will be no SUC (SpectrumUsageCharge) for the spectrum
acquired in this auction.
spectrum in frequency bands kept for auction
600 700 800 900 1800 2100 2300 2500 all MHz (low category)
and 3.3 to 3.67 GHz (Mid category) and
26 GHz (high category).
5G is 10 times FASTER than 4G.
ADANI DATA network is not inclined to enter the consumer space
as of now. The spectrum won by them is meant for building
their own private networks. In short, ADANI data network
is not a telecome service provider. Their EMD IS JUST Rs 100 CRORE
which is a token deposit.
AT THE END OF FIRST DAY of the auction
the 4 telcos together has bid for Rs 1.45 lakh crore.

FINAL POSITION
Auction began on 26 july and ended on AUG 1, LASTED FOR 7 DAYS.
At the end of the auction, the total amount bid is Rs 150,173 crore.
ie, Rs 1.5 lakh crore.
In the first day of auction, the govt earned a revenue of Rs 1.45 lakh crore.
But even after 6 days, on the 7th (last) day very low marginal increase
of the revenue was only earned.
No bids for the following frequencies
600 MHz, 800 MHz, 2300 MHz.
The most sold (about 2/3rd of the sale) frequency bands are
3300 MHz and 26 GHz which are 5G bands.
Also there was a considrable demand for 700 MHz band which
was not sold in the last two auctions held during 2016 and 2021.

jio has bought 700 MHz, 1800 MHz, 3.3 GHz, 26 GHz
3300-3630 MHz frequency band fetched a revenue of
Rs 80590 crore, the highest.
700 MHz band fetched a revenue of Rs 39270 crore, the second highest.
26 GHz = Rs 14609 crore
1800 MHz = Rs 100376 crore
and so on.

parliament monsoon session 2022 began on july 18 and ended on 8 august 2022.
session lasted for 22 days.
three former ministers of communications
kapil sibal, dayanidhi maran, a raja are MPs and were well present
in the session. they did not speak on any sort of a 5g scam.
p chidambaram did not speak on the so called 5 g scam.
sonia gandhi or rakul gandhi did not speak.
Neither kanimozhi nor t r balu spoke on any scam.
yechuri or brinda karath did not speak.
no debate on national tv channels.
burga dutt, sagarika ghosh, rajdeep sardesai.and none of thier kind
anchored or debated on tv channels.
no PIL by PRSHANTH bHUSHAN IN COURT OF LAW.
NO NEWS IN Hindu or times or in express or any english news paper.
no news in party organs like peoples democracy, new age etc.
2nd important point

in the budget it was mentioned that a revenue to the tune of rs 1 lakh crore
is expected from the porposed 5g spectrum sales. the expectation was
rs 1 lakh crore but actually rs 1.5 crore was realised from the said auction,
50 percent more than the expectation.

BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY WITH 4G 3G POSSIBLE OR NOT?
It depends on the country. country specific.
in usa entire 3g sets are going to be totally shut down by the end of 2022/
in india 4.5G AND 5g will co exist for atleast 10 years
4G LTE will coexist with 5 g
in japan there is 5 g

2G AUCTION ON NOV 2012

epected revenue = rs 40,000 crore
reserve price = rs 28000 crore
actual relaised revenue = rs 9407 crore
this auction is a flop.

in india first auction was on 1994 for four metros only.
the 900 MHz alone was auctioned.
in 1995, the auction was for the remaining 18 circles.
conducted by narasimha rao pm and sukh ram com minister.
first mobile telephonic talk et
jothi basu and sukh ram on july 31 1995.
in 1997 during deve gowda OR i k gujral period
an auction was held for 900 MHz only.
then in 2000 and 2001 there were auctions.
in 1997 mtnl was given spectrum and permitted to ru mobile services.
in 2000 BSNL WAS permitted to run mobile service
and spectrum was given to bsnl.
in 2001, 1800 MHz spectrum was also auctioned for the
very first time. so auction was for 900 and 1800 mhz.
in 2008 without auction on FCFS BASIS A RAJA ALLOTTED
122 UAC licences. this was subsequently cancelled on 2012
by supreme court terming as arbitrary and unconstitutional.
SC said a raja has favoured few companies at the cost of govt exchequer.

2010 auction

in 2010, 3 g auction by kapil sibal. also BWA auction immdty after 3 g auction
3 g = 2100 MHZz
BWA = 2300 MHz
in 2010 there was 3 g auction, WAS CONDUCTED BY KAPIL SIBAL.
AFTER THIS THERE WAS bwa bwa broadband wireless access
(9tehnically WIMAX spectrum) auction.
3g auction took place for 34 days starting from may 2010 and had 183 rounds.
successful bidders were given spectrum during septemer 2010.
tata docomo was the first to roll out 3 g in india/
800 MHz spectrum was a CDMA spectrum.
2012 november 2g auction

2012 spectrum auction. for 2 g spectrum only (for both gsm and cdma).
held on november 2012. ended on november 14. rounds = 14 only.
it was a total failure

2013 march 2g spectrum auction
------------------------
auction was on 11th march 2013
actually an extension of 2012 november auction.
auction lasted for 4 hour only.
there was only one bidder namely mts MTS.
INITIALLY there was auction meant for 3 bands/
800 mhz 900 mhz, 1800 mhz.
but nobody opted for bidding 900 mhz and 1800 mhz.
so kapil sibal canceled auction for those two bands.
and auction was held for only one band ie 800 mhz which was then
a cdma spectrum.
2014 february auction by kapil sibal

this is 2 g spectrum auction. this auction was necessitated since supereme
court cancelled 122 licences of 2 g.
so 2014 auction was only 2 g auction for bands 900 mhz and 1800 mhz.
both gsm. auction lasted for 10 days with 68 rounds.
reliance jio participated in this auction and got for the first time
1800 mhz in 14 circles. it has already got a all india 4 g licence
but did not have spectrum in lower generations.
2015 march spectrum auction by ravisankar prasad

concluded on march 25. by ravisankar prasad.
19 days and 115 rounds
800 mhz, 900 mhz, 1800 mhz and 2100 mhz (2 g and 3 g )
roughly 89% of spectrum were sold.
2016 auction
---------------
auction started on october 1st 2016. 7 frequency bands were availale for
auction. 700 mhz spectrum was first introduced for auction.

2021 AUCTION
AUCTION HELD ON MARCH 2021 for two days on
march 1 and 2. only two days and six rounds of bidding.
auction condcted by minister ravi sankar prasad.
totally 3 telcos participated in the auction. they are
reliance jio, vodafone india, airtel.
revenue earned by govt = rs 77814.80 crore
spectrum sold 855 MHz
700 MHz and 2500 MHz were not sold at all in this auction.
