My Analysis
As per TRAI, Rural Tele-density is just 58.50% as of Dec' 21. As BSNL & BBNL merger is also approved, this signifies that GoI is trying to cover Rural Population with 4G connectivity.
Private Operators will be moving to 5G and later 6G, there would be a big vacuum for 4G services. Even today these private operators don't offer service in low ARPU zones, especially Village and Sub-Urban population areas. That must not be left behind since in the coming future most of the Govt services will be delivered directly over the Internet, GPRS texting and Phone
When it comes to infrastructure, BSNL even today is miles ahead of private players. BSNL widely covers Mountains, Hills, Deserts, Forest and rural India. If you travel Hills and mountain terrain, still the best penetration is from BSNL
By pumping money in BSNL what i believe govt is doing is strengthening the mobile infrastructure in India which they are the best in however their last mile connectivity is pathetic
So i see that in the future BSNL will give the infrastructure backbone to Mobile services and Private players can give last mile connectivity. The same is working on the power sector and grid management
From a national security point of view, this is the best proposition to deliver citizen services to people and at the same time manage national security and surveillanc
