Part-5 5G Auction will be a FLOP!
--------------------------------------------
1) When the entire telecom industry is debt ridden, 5G
auction is planned by DoT and may be held during
April 2020.
This is going to be a flop. In 2012, the then Telecom Minister
Kabil Sibal had an auction of 2G spectrum. This was a t
otal flop. None came to bid.
2) The 5G auction arranged by Ravi Sankar Prasad will meet
the same fate. Who will take part in the auction? March 17, 2020
was the due date for paying the AGR dues as ordered by the
Supreme Court. If the Telcos fail to clear the dues before the
due date, they have to face the contempt proceedings. DoT has
said that the last date will not be extended.
3) Vodafone has to pay Rs 50,000 crore. Airtel has so far paid
Rs 18,000 crore and the balance is to paid by the due date. BSNL
is at the mercy of the Govt and the Govt has just now funded for
4G spectrum including GST. So BSNL is not at all in a position to
bid for 5G. The only major Telco is Jio. So it is sure that the
Govt may not get the expected revenue out of the 5G auction.
