1. 58 seats - BJP - 46 SP - 12 (SP 5, RLD 7)

2. 55 seats - BJP 32 SP - 23

3. 59 seats - BJP 44 SP 15 (RLD 1)

4. 59 seats - BJP 49 SP 10

5. 61 seats - BJP 36 SP 22, others 3

6. 57 seats - BJP 39 SP 16, others 2

7. 54 seats - BJP 27 SP 27

First phase - Jat heartland - BJP virtual sweep

Second phase - Sizeable Muslim populated Rohilkhand, BJP held off SP fight.

Third and fourth phases - contest killed and by fifth phase, BJP crossed majority.

Sixth phase - Gorakhpur belt - BJP consolidation

Seventh phase - equal division of seats with SP making a fight by clean sweep in Azamgarh (10 seats) and Ambedkar Nagar (5 seats) districts.

Final numbers may be comfortable for BJP, but this was toughly fought election with many by plays involved in it..

Popular opinion of heroes of this election will definitely be PM and CM, but there was one man who made his mark silently - Amit Shah - he was instrumental in toning down the anger of Jat community against BJP.. Conspiracy experts were saying Amit Shah is unhappy at the rise of Yogi. But Shah proved he is a team man and established his mettle once more in UP !!
